In mythology, rose meaning is associated with Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love who was often depicted adorned with roses around her head, feet and or neck. The most common interpretation is that the rose symbolizes an immortal love or a union that will never fade.

Here are some photographs I recently took of roses, they are so moody and muted in colour {click on images to enlarge} If you would like to see more, they are a part of my heirlooms set ...

Inspiration: palimpsest.

Here are some paintings I started working on yesterday evening. The paintings are in antique frames. I plan to paint layer upon layer, leaving traces of the previous layers, so they show through. This is the first layer, I'm just showing my work in progress ...

Inspiration: Nature. For Father's Day we went on a two hour nature walk as a family ... It was such a nice walk around the river with a cool break under a shaded tree ... I took some of the shots from our walk and made these...

I made a couple variations of this photograph of crows sitting on a wire ...

And combined this photograph with another I shot the other day ...

And here are some flowers I picked up at the Farmers' Market this morning ...

Inspiration: love quotes and an antique wedding theme.

Here are a couple new images I have been working on. I added this love quote:

When you are in Love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams. - Dr. Seuss

I love wedding work, especially making wedding bouquets. This is the first wedding season in over ten years that I am not doing wedding work and I am really missing it! Here is a little sample I put together, the flower bouquets and the lollipop image are my work ... the other images are not, but I'm using them to show a colour palette of pinks and blues.

The best thing about me is you.

As promised, here are a couple pictures from my photo shoot with Zachari and Barrett today. I edited all the naked body parts out and antiqued the pictures afterwards. Both guys looked very stoic in the photographs, and true to the real definition as well. It was very cold where we were photographing and they don't seem to be affected at all.

I recently discovered Spanish photographer Eugenio Recuenco. He mainly photographs for fashion and advertising. He sets up these elaborate backdrops and then manipulates his photographs afterwards, which creates a cinematographic style to his work. I especially love these works of his, because they are very macabre. Below are some more of his recent photographs with fairytale narratives.
