Inspiration: outlandish floral headpieces

{image via WHORANGE}

I created these fanciful images of women with floral and nature-inspired headpieces ... I call them 'posies' ... Shown below is one of my 'posies' ...

So, I was amused when I saw these creations in real life, however 'costumey', they are fun ... Grandiflora, an Australian florist created these floral head pieces ...

Amira Fritz takes this theme even further ... These pseudo-fashion photographs are in strange contexts, and made even odder with funeral-esque floral arrangements taking the place of the model's head ...

Fritz's photographs remind me of this work I did in collaboration with a friend years ago ... Here is one of the photographs from the photoshoot we did together ...

New portraits in series - a lot more darker than the previous portraits. These took me a little more time than the others, but I am really happy with the way they turned out, the extra effort paid off. Again, I am combining flowers with portraiture, but these are more macabre. I used Kristian Wåhlin's The black flower as my inspiration. I made more variations with this portrait as well, you can see more here.

It feels great to be back in the swing of illustrating - over the past few evenings, I have made portraits inspired by MARUMIYAN's art + design *see May 26 post*

Here are the first two I have worked on. You can see more colour variations here. More to come...
